A timber-framed roof sitting atop a conventionally framed house in planed eastern white pine. Eight rafter sets and tie beams all meet at a central 14 1/2" x 14 1/2" octagonal boss pin. Requiring unusual joinery and complicated geometry, this roof presented us with an enjoyable challenge. After cutting the parts, the 3300 pound frame was assembled on the ground and lifted with a crane to its second-story perch. Working with a crane can be stressful, but watching the straps come off this roof was tremendously gratifying.
